Back To My Roots

Aug 2, 2023

I have always loved nature and most things natural. There is a beauty about it that makes me alive and joyful. Nature has a contentment that brings healing to our souls and bodies. Not to mention it brings forth comfort from the elements, peace from society, and healing from the beautiful, but medicinal plants.

As I embrace my love for nature, I’m even more amazed by how many of our daily needs can be met by nature alone, especially when it comes to our health and beauty.

I’m convinced there would be more healthy and beautiful souls in this world if we all could get a little more of our resources directly from nature. Of course, it’s hard in a modern society with modern perks, but I’m still willing to try to be as natural as possible in this day and age.

For these reasons, plus the fact we don’t know what toxic chemicals are in the products we already consume — I’m trying to live a healthier life and use as many natural and organic products as I can.

TAKING ME BACK TO MY ROOTS

As a Ghanaian American I remember all the different medicinal and beauty hacks we used. I never thought much about them and maybe even took them for granted, but as I get older, I find myself wanting to get back to a simpler natural way of living. I want to hold on to some of these ways especially if they can be found directly in nature.

For as long as I can remember I have been using shea butter. (A fat extracted from the Shea Tree found in Africa, which is used to make body butters, lotions, and other beauty products).

I honestly don’t know if I love shea butter so much because of its natural healing properties or because of its connection to Ghana which keeps me connected to my root

I love how moisturizing it is to my skin. Plus, how I can put my own spin on it by adding other fragrances and essential oils to it. I’ve even experimented with adding it to my handmade soaps as well.

So yes I love Shea butter and use it daily. What about you, do you have any natural products that take you back to your roots or like to use daily? Comment down below and let me know.

If you would like to support me you can also purchase my handmade whipped Shea butter infused with essential oils.
