An intellectual is not someone who has knowledge alone but rather has understanding and reason.
They are one who can think for themselves and decipher through the fluff , lies and propaganda.
It really irritates me when people are praised for being intelligent because of their degrees but yet have no common sense or go with the flow because society says so.
A true intellectual should be used to some push back in their life. Meaning they should rationally be able to disagree with others and explain their way through when given a chance.
A true intellectual is not a follower and if they are a leader they did not always desire to be nor where they groomed to be.
They simply have valued thinking for themselves, wanted to improve their environment and thought of ways to do so.
They have literally shattered what society said was true and learned from history to have an idea of what precedes next.
